William E. Taylor

William E. “Bill” Taylor, born February 16, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, to William L. and Dorothy Taylor, passed away on August 19, 2026, at his home in Shelby Township at the age of 78. Bill was the beloved husband of Sally Taylor, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Loving father of Kris Evans, Dottie (Tom Begley) McKillop, and Heather (fiancée Jeff Sehn) Taylor. Very proud Papa of Taylor McKillop, Dorothy Evans, William (fiancée Cassey Vianney) Taylor, Sabrina Begley and Annie Begley and cherished great-grandfather of William Taylor. Loving brother of Michele (the late Jim and the late Wayne) Wilson-Irving and Sandy (Roy Wallis). Dear Godfather of Jim Wilson and uncle to numerous treasured nieces and nephews. Bill is further survived by many beloved bonus children and grandchildren, including Jacamo and Morgan, who became an important and cherished part of his extended family. He was also devoted to his cherished “fur baby” dogs, who brought him great companionship and happiness throughout the years. For many years, Bill was the owner and proprietor of Bill Taylor Florist in Eastpointe, where his creativity and dedication became well known throughout the community. Bill also shared a lifelong love of boating and racing with his father, Bill Taylor, Sr. Together, father and son were founders of the LSCORA Offshore Racing group and competed in numerous offshore races on Lake St. Clair aboard their boat, the Posey Picker. Those years provided Bill with countless adventures and treasured memories. Bill also had a deep commitment to helping others. He developed the Angels and Butterflies program for hospice patients, combining his compassion for people with his desire to bring comfort during some of life's most difficult moments. He was also a dedicated member of the Lions Club of Eastpointe for more than 50 years, giving generously of his time and talents in service to his community. When Bill wasn't working or serving others, one of his favorite places to be was “up north” at the family's property in Gaylord. He enjoyed visiting throughout every season and taking in everything northern Michigan had to offer. Whether enjoying the outdoors, spending time with family, or simply getting away from the everyday routine, Gaylord always held a special place in his heart. Above all else, Bill was a family man. He was an involved and loving father, a faithful and devoted husband, and a doting Papa and great-grandfather. His family was the center of his life, and the love and pride he had for them could always be seen. Bill will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his years of service to his community, his adventurous spirit, his compassion for others, and the many lives he touched throughout his 78 years. Bill will lie Instate Monday at 9:30 a.m. until the time of his 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 48115 Schoenherr Road (north of 21 Mile Road), Shelby Township. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery
