Thomas Joseph Turri

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Joseph Turri, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Thomas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family at his home in New Baltimore, Michigan. Thomas was born on March 6, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to Anthony and Angelina Turri (nee Calcaterra). He grew up with a deep respect for family values, a trait that he carried forward throughout his life. He served his country proudly as a member of the Marines, exemplifying courage and dedication in every task he undertook. A lifelong entrepreneur, Thomas built a successful career as a business owner. His commitment to hard work and integrity was evident in all his professional endeavors. Beyond his career, Thomas was a pillar of strength and wisdom for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Paula Turri (nee Krompack), of New Baltimore, MI; his cherished children, Michael Turri, Jeffrey Turri, and Tammy (Raymond) Scodeller; and his treasured grandchildren, Kyle, Thomas, and Samuel, as well as great-granddaughter, Aubrey. Thomas was a dear brother to Anthony (the late Linda) Turri and Mary (the late Robert) Derlicki and was predeceased by his siblings Francis (Therese) Turri, Bernard (Dorothy) Turri, and Clorinda (Jim) Covert. He was a special uncle to John, Joe, Mark, and Andrea and a beloved father-in-law to Carol Turri. Thomas will also be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Tom began working at his parents’ Italian food company at just ten years old, learning early the importance of hard work, responsibility, and dedication to family. And though hardworking and dependable, Tom also had a spirited side and enjoyed life on his own terms. His father would often say, “You went to a party and never came back,” a phrase that perfectly captured his personality. He became a Marine and served proudly in the reserves for many years. The values of the Marine Corps remained with him throughout his life. He was tough, honest, disciplined, and fiercely loyal to the people he loved. Eventually, Tom became an owner of Turri’s Italian Foods, Inc. alongside his brothers and sister. They, and other family members, transformed the company from humble beginnings in their mother’s kitchen into a nationwide business. Tom took enormous pride in the success of the family business and in the hard work, sacrifice, and unity that made it possible. In addition, he was extraordinarily generous. He was constantly picking up lunch tabs for friends, leaving outrageously generous tips, and finding ways to give to others without hesitation. He loved showering his wife, children, and grandchildren with gifts both big and small! But Tom’s greatest gift was the way he made people feel. Always joking, laughing, and telling stories, he brought smiles to the faces of everyone around him. His laugh was unmistakable — the kind of laugh people never forget. He will be remembered not only for his extraordinary success, but for his unforgettable love and laughter he shared with all of those who were lucky enough to have known him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14th, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wasik Funeral Home, located at 35259 23 Mile Rd., New Baltimore, MI. A 6:00 pm Scripture Service will take place during the visitation. On Friday, May 15th, 2026, Thomas will be instate at 10:00 am until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Mary Queen of Creation Church, at 50931 Maria Street, New Baltimore, Michigan. Following the mass, a Committal Service will be held at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park East Cemetery. Thomas's life was a testament to love, kindness, and the enduring power of family. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who were privileged to know him.
