Steven H. Kilgore

Steven H. Kilgore, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence in Ira Township, Michigan on July 20, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on August 2, 1956, in Dearborn, Michigan. Steve lived a life full of passion, adventure, and dedication. Steve's early years saw him embrace the adventurous spirit of the West as a cowboy. His remarkable journey took him into the automotive industry, where he became a respected tool maker for 37 years before his well-deserved retirement. A man of many interests, Steve was a lifetime member and deeply involved with the Red Wings Motorcycle Club, relishing the freedom and camaraderie found on motorcycle rides. His love for the water led him to become an instructor for the Sea Cadet program aboard the "Pride of Michigan" ship, and he also shared his expertise as a dive instructor, exploring shipwrecks on the Great Lakes. Known for his profound love of the great outdoors, Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an exceptionally skilled cook. His culinary creations were as much a part of family gatherings as his vibrant storytelling, steeped in historical knowledge and fascination. A well-read history buff, Steve spent countless hours exploring the past, enhancing his perspective on the present. Steve was also a proud member of the Freemasons, finding community and purpose in their noble traditions. His life exemplified the principles of brotherhood and charity. Above all, Steve's heart was with his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joy, and his beloved daughter, Laura Riffel, along with her husband, Justin. Steve leaves behind stepdaughters Kara Stewart, Ashley Ritter, and Brittany Bryant, and cherished his roles as a grandfather to Joslyn, and a step-grandfather to Clint, Makenna, Kason, Kolten, and Lyla. Steve's sisters Carol Mitchell and Gale Boone (Les) carry forward his memory, alongside many cherished nieces and nephews. Steve is reunited in rest with his sons, Nathan and Justen Kilgore, his parents; LeRoy and Gladys, his brother LeRoy Kilgore III, and his brother-in-law Kenneth Davern. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Monday, July 27th, from 2-8 pm with a 5:30 pm Funeral Service at the Wasik Funeral Home Gendernalik Chapel located at 35259 23 Mile Rd. in New Baltimore. Steven H. Kilgore will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, tenacity, and joy for life will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
