Mary Louise Iudici

Mary (Hensel) Iudici, affectionately known as “Rosie” or “Ro,” of New Baltimore, passed away on July 10, 2024, in Detroit, MI, at the age of 77. She was born October 28,1946, in Pennsylvania but moved with her parents and two siblings to New York in childhood. Rosie is survived by her beloved daughter, Jennifer Gorney, her son-in-law, Steve Gorney, and her grand-pup, Shayna; her niece, Sherrie Lave (LaCentra), and her nephew-in-law, Gary Lave, her niece, Leslie Styer and great-nephew, Ezera Garrisi, who lovingly called her “Gam-Gam” along with many other family and friends who held her dear. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rocco Iudici, her brother William Hensel and her sister, Anna Marie LaCentra (Hensel). Rosie had a light and loving disposition. She was always looking at the bright side of things, even during the darkest of times. She worked hard and loved harder. Our loved one grew up on the east coast to a large family and lived most of her early life in Queens, New York. Rosie was no stranger to hard work and she took pride in all she did. A beautician by trade. She was a wife to Rocco. Then, mother to her only child, a beloved daughter, Jenny, Rosie's focus on family was felt beyond her immediate family and network of siblings and cousins, as she treated so many like family. Rosie carried the warmth and dedication to family and friends with her throughout her life. After Rocco passed unexpectedly in 1991, Rosie moved herself and her daughter to Michigan to be closer to her sister, Anna. Rosie built a life in Michigan with her daughter. She took immense pride and joy in watching her daughter's life here flourish with friends and opportunities. Rosie, like her sister, felt called to care for others and share the love and light she brought to this world. She did this by touching lives through her sister's daycare business, her daughter's friends and their families, as well as all of her coworkers and friends through the years. Rosie was a strong woman who fought hard for peace among friends and family, those she loved and for herself. She battled cancer two times in ten years and won both of those fights. She was never one to give up easily or go quietly into the night. She prided herself on her love for her family and her ability to survive through the hardest and most trying times. She was a beautiful woman, wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and soul. Rosie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched during her 77 years on this earth. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 17th. Visitation from 5:00 -7:00pm with a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. at Wasik Funeral Home 49150 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Twp., MI 48315. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be addressed to: Macomb County Animal Welfare Fund (21417 Dunham Rd., Clinton Twp., MI 48036) or The American Cancer Society, thank you.
