Martin Anthony Paddock

Martin "Marty" Paddock, of Sterling Heights, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 24, 1944 to Elmer and Kathleen (nee Petz) Paddock. Marty was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served honorably in Vietnam during 1965-1966. He was a man of faith who was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Blase Catholic Church. Marty was always active and involved in his children's activities. He especially enjoyed coaching his sons football and baseball teams. As they grew up and had children of their own, one of Marty's past times was to attend his grandchildren's sporting events. He was proud and always their biggest supporter. Marty also loved to watch different games on tv, especially if Michigan was playing. When it came down to it, Marty just loved people. His quick wit remarks and laugh was infectious. He loved to laugh and make others around him laugh. He enjoyed having people, whether family or friends, over to the house for a pool party or one of his famous barbecues. He truly was the grillmaster and took pride in teaching his sons the art of barbecuing of which they will forever cherish. He thoroughly enjoyed having a "houseful" of family and friends and just watching everyone having a good time. Marty took great pride in keeping his lawn meticulously kept. He had the best kept lawn on the entire block and probably the entire neighborhood. He also loved to play cards. He never passed up a chance for a game of Euchre or Pinochle. He also treasured the annual trip to Caseville with the Kava family, where treasured memories were made for over 50 years. Although we are all saddened at Marty's passing, we are grateful for the 80 years of love and memories that we will hold dear forever. Beloved husband of Mary Ann for 57 cherished years. Loving father of Martin (Lisa) Paddock, Matt Paddock and Maria (Paul) Manzo. Proud Grandpa of Whitney (Joe) McClelland, Ryan Paddock and Paulie Manzo. Adoring Great-Grandpa of Tessa McClelland. Predeceased by his parents Elmer and Kathleen and brothers Eugene and Dan (Sheila). Also survived by his sister-in-law, Shirl Paddock, and many admiring in-laws, nieces, nephews, God-children, cousins, and friends. Visitation for Marty will be on Sunday, February 23rd from 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (West of Hoover) Warren. He will lye instate on Monday, February 24th from 9:30 a.m. until a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Road (South of Hall Road) Utica. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery in Center Line.
