Margaret Ann Renouf

Margaret Ann Renouf, a gifted artist, devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence in Harrison Township, Mich., on June 3, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on April 19, 1947, in Detroit, Mich., Margaret was the beloved daughter of Pasquale and Emma Monte. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1965 while working at her family’s bakery, Country Style, in Chesterfield. Here, she worked as head decorator alongside her six younger sisters. She learned the value of hard work and dedication while also using her artistry to create beautiful cakes. An exceptionally talented seamstress, there was nothing Margaret couldn’t make. From boat canvasses to dresses, drapes to reupholstery, she did it all. Her most enjoyable moments behind her sewing machine were spent on the amazing Halloween costumes she lovingly made for her kids and grandkids. Her passion for the arts extended beyond sewing and cake decorating. Margaret earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Wayne State University. She later combined her artistic eye with technical expertise while working in CAD/CAM design for an architectural firm contributing to the development of new and remodel construction projects. Following her retirement from the architectural field, Margaret joined the family business at Phil's Pharmacy, where she worked as a clerk, helping customers and sharing stories. She was a favorite among customers and coworkers for her kind nature and compassion. Margaret had many hobbies including gardening, antiquing and staying fit and active. She was also an avid sailor who treasured time spent on Lake St. Clair with her beloved husband, Jim. Their home of 55 years across from the Clinton River provided easy access to the water and countless memories aboard their sailboat. Above all else, Margaret's greatest love was her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with those she loved. She was a devoted wife of 55 years, a caring and supportive mother, and a grandmother whose eyes lit up whenever her grandchildren called her “Mimi.” There is nothing she wouldn’t do for any of them. The love she shared with her family will remain her most enduring legacy. Margaret was the beloved wife of James Renouf for 55 years. Loving mother of Heather Chalmers, James (Carrie) Renouf, Jr., and Juliann (Michael) Brillati. Very proud grandmother of Ava, Joey, Peter, Lydia, Charlie, and Vincent. Dearest sister of Patty (Dave) Miles, Rosemary Monte, Nancy (Mike) Norman, Jeanette Monte, the late Annie Kierpaul, and the late Linda Schmidt. Adored aunt of many nieces and nephews.
