Lois Stromme

Lois Charlene Stromme was granted her Angel Wings at 5pm on October 23, 2019 at the age of 82. Lois died from a rare form of brain cancer called Ependymoma, which was discovered only after she suffered a stroke on September 12, 2019. She underwent brain surgery, unfortunately her tumor had progressed and it was untreatable and inoperable. She was surrounded by her family and friends over the final days at Henry Ford Hospital Clinton Township. Lois was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 17,1937 and was the eldest of five daughters, to her parents Charles and Ethel Tyrell from Xenia, Ohio. She attended Pershing High School and then graduated from Lincoln High School in Warren, Michigan. Lois, like her father, was an avid reader. Her home was filled with many books and series of authors that she loved to read. She loved jigsaw puzzles, casinos, playing cards, shopping and most of all, being with her family and friends. She really looked forward to their monthly card-club gatherings to play poker with their friends and family. Lois was very organized, and kept her home extremely tidy. Lois loved to decorate and fill her home with framed photographs of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who truly filled her heart with pride. Lois was always well-groomed and took great pride in looking her best. She loved shopping for clothes, shoes and jewelry. Lois married her husband Arnold in 1955. They did everything together. Where one went, the other went along and because of that they were full of pride every year as they hit another fantastic milestone of their wedding anniversary. They enjoyed almost 65 wedding anniversaries together, although Lois met Arnold when she was only 14 years old. Arnold loves to tell the story that he met her while she walked down the street with her friends and he thought she was the prettiest girl (from behind). After 3 years of marriage, they relocated to Colorado Springs when Arnold served in the Army. Although they both loved Colorado, they moved back to Michigan after the service to be close to family. Lois and Arnold worked through Lutheran Social Services, where they adopted two children who filled their life with happiness. In 1965, they built a new home in Warren, where they lived for 35 years while raising their family. Lois was a stay-at-home mother for most of her life, and always enjoyed her coffee and neighborhood friendships. Lois is survived by her loving husband Arnold, her children Cindy [Jeff] Geier of Livonia, Ross [Patty] Stromme of Chesterfield Township, her grandchildren – Alexandra [Greg] Ricketts of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, Trista-Lynne [Erin] Geier of Albion, Brian [Kayla] Stromme of St. Clair, and Joshua Stromme of Chesterfield Township. Her great-grandchildren, Aiden Doviak, Addison Ricketts, Sophie Stromme, Aubree Ricketts, Malachi Stromme and Alivia Ricketts. She is also survived by her sister Roberta Kitchens of Washington Township and preceded in death by her sisters, Naomi Krause, Juanita Barowicz and Kathy Blumke.
