Joseph Paul Pelletier

Joseph Paul Pelletier, affectionately known as Paul, passed away peacefully at his home in Clay Township, Michigan, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on April 4, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, Paul was the beloved son of Hector and Marie (Massie) Pelletier. Paul graduated from Saint Anthony High School in the Archdiocese of Detroit. Following his graduation, he honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Alaska as a Private 1st Class Military Policeman. After his military service, he dedicated 28 years of hard work as an Overhead Lineman for the City of Detroit, eventually retiring to enjoy his well-deserved leisure time. On August 16, 1952, Paul married the love of his life, Jean Patricia Hoch. Together, they shared 67 years of marriage, building a beautiful life and raising four cherished children. Paul found joy in the great outdoors, spending time fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, and playing golf. He and Jean also relished their time as snowbirds in Zephyrhills, Florida, enjoying the warmer climates and making lasting memories. Paul is survived by his children: Mike K. Pelletier, Tom H. (Darleen) Pelletier, and Paula-Janine (Mark) Woollcott. He leaves behind a legacy of love that continues through his grandchildren: Beth Pelletier, Kelly Hickoff, Paul Pelletier, Joseph Pelletier, James Pelletier, Alicia Woollcott, Amber Woollcott, and Autumn Woollcott, as well as 14 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Pelletier; his son, Patrick Pelletier; his brother, George Pelletier; and his sisters, Cecile Prusaitis and Marge Pelletier. Visitation for Paul will be on Friday, Sept. 11 from 3-8 pm with a rosary 4 pm at the Wasik Funeral Home, Gendernalik Chapel 35259 23 Mile Rd in New Baltimore, Michigan. His Funeral service will be on Saturday 11 am at the funeral home, with additional visitation beginning at 10 am. Paul’s life was one of service, love, and dedication to his family, community, and country. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate to have had him in their lives.
