James Thomas Sperling

James Thomas Sperling, of Center Line, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the age of 77. He was born October 7, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Victor and Eleanor Sperling. Beloved significant other of Florence Katroscik. Dearest brother of Robert Sperling, Sharon (the late David) Adams, and the late Susan Sperling. Loving uncle to Robyn (William) Voight, Peter (Karen) Adams, Ryan Sperling, Blake Sperling, and Daniel (Laura) Adams. Also survived by many loving great-nephews, great-nieces, family members, and friends. James was the steadfast patriarch of the family and guiding light to all who knew him. For decades, he served as the rock of his family, leading with a quiet strength, an unwavering sense of duty, and a generous heart. Born and raised with relentless drive, James dedicated over 32 years of his life to General Motors working as a tool and die maker, starting at GM Chevy Gear & Axle before making his way to the Tech Center; he was a proud member of UAW Local 160. He carried that same dedication into his role as a family leader, providing a firm foundation and unconditional support for multiple generations. While James took his responsibilities seriously, he lived for the moments when the entire family gathered under one roof. He cherished family get-togethers, and everyone knew where to find him once the greetings were over - stationed in the TV room, locked in on the game. An avid and passionate sports fan, James lived and breathed Detroit sports. He spent countless summers cheering on the Detroit Tigers and autumn Sundays rooting for the Lions. Recently, he discovered an interest for soccer, eagerly watching and following the World Cup. James had fond memories of the great outdoors. He looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Canada, sharing laughs, stories, and camaraderie with his fishing buddies. His love for adventure also took him to the beautiful landscapes of Alaska, a place whose rugged beauty truly matched his own strong, independent spirit. James was a dearly loved man who will be truly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Visitation Monday, July 13, 2026, from 2-8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. funeral service at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (West of Hoover) Warren.
