James Vincent Franze

James V. Franze passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026 at the age of 71 leaving behind a legacy of love and quiet ingenuity to all who knew him. Jim was born on December 14, 1954 in Detroit to Saverio and Beverly Franze. Jim was a professionally trained chef and a talented baker. His family adored his famous cheesecake and peanut butter cookies, but his true joy was bringing his family together and sharing moments filled with laughter, storytelling, and his unmistakable sense of humor. He had a way of making even the simplest gatherings feel special. A lover of nature and animals, Jim found peace in the outdoors and companionship in the presence of his beloved pets. He was also a natural problem-solver and a self-described “putzer” who could fix just about anything. Whether tackling a household repair or a new project, Jim approached challenges with determination and curiosity, often teaching himself along the way. No matter the task, he always found a way to get it done. Jim had a particular passion for working with wood. His craftsmanship shone through in the beautiful birdhouses he created and the thoughtful steps he built for his dogs; each piece a reflection of his care, patience, and creativity. Beginning in 1993, Jim faced ongoing health challenges, yet he never allowed them to define him. His strength, selflessness, and unwavering concern for others remained constant, even on his hardest days. He gave freely of himself, always putting those he loved before his own struggles. Jim was a quiet man, a gentle soul, and valued integrity, loyalty, and dedication to family. He is the beloved husband of 47 years of Kathleen. Loving father of Teresa (Damien) Duclair, Kaity Harbour, Angelina Franze, Salvatore Franze, and Vincent Franze. Very proud "Papy Jim" of Max and Lucas Duclair. Dearest brother of John (Margaret) Franze and the late Maria Franze and the late Patrick Franze. Dearest uncle to Marianne (James) Spake and Joanne (Matt) Kovie along with numerous great nieces and nephews. Jim will be further missed by his faithful companions Frankie and Remi. Visitation Monday 2-8 PM with a 7 PM Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd), Shelby Twp. Instate Tuesday 9:30 until 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church 41300 Romeo Plank Road (corner of Canal), Clinton Township. Interment will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery.
