Gary Michael Orczykowski

Gary "Popo" Orczykowski passed away unexpectedly on August 27th, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones at McLaren Macomb hospital. Gary was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 4th, 1953 to Anthony and Estelle Orczykowski. He had many different jobs throughout his life that he enjoyed and took such pride in, such as a paper route, bakery delivery, various hospital roles, setup of home care medical equipment, and ultimately retiring in 2010 from the city of New Baltimore DPS. After retiring, he devoted time volunteering at the St. Mary's food pantry. He had many jobs, but his favorites and most rewarding were being a fun loving husband, dad, and "Popo." He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Therese (Ruhlman) Orczykowski, daughters, Sarah (Dave), Martha (Ryan), and Emma (Adam), grandchildren, Everett, Ella, Annie, and Conor, brothers Kurt (Marion) Goldenbogen, Paul (Dora) Goldenbogen, Tom (Pat) Goldenbogen, Jim (Dottie) Goldenbogen, Dennis (Janis) Orczykowski, and countless extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Estelle Orczykowski, second mom Therese (Goldenbogen) Orczykowski, and brother William (Pat) Goldenbogen. Gary enjoyed countless hours sitting in his recliner completing crossword puzzles and daily Wordle competitions with Therese, tending to his beautiful vegetable and flower gardens, cracking the driest and corniest jokes you could imagine that he claimed as "Popo jokes," or discovering a magical piece of garbage to add to his garage sanctuary of treasures, which he spent much of his time putzing in. He was a special person who made sure to always show kindness towards anyone and everyone, provided a unique perspective to any situation, and wisdom that no one else could match. With grace, Gary took each moment as it came, making the best of his life to enjoy the "little things." He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation for Gary to take place on Thursday, August 31, 2023 between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm located at the Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel, 35259 Twenty-Three Mile Rd., New Baltimore. Funeral service to take place at 4:00 pm following visitation on Thursday, August 31 at the Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Gary's name to St. Mary's Food Pantry.
