David Archie Patterson

David Patterson of Macomb, Michigan passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the age of 85. Born in Detroit on January 10, 1940 to the late Velma Patterson and was grandson of the late Elizabeth Durance. A devoted husband of Peggy (Helen) for 56 and a half amazing, loving years. Loving brother of the late Joan Hantke and Albert Patterson. Dearest brother in law of Mary Ann (Ronald) Brown. Uncle of Cheryl (Ron Oldham) Weber, Sandra Weber, Cynthia Nance, Catherine (Louis) Sorel and the late Kimberly Turner, Bernard Brown, and brothers Eric and Karl Hantke. Also Great Uncle and Great-Great uncle to several nieces and nephews. David joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 with his best buddy Greg but they never ended up serving even one day together. They were like brothers until his unexpected death. Greg was the best man at David and Peggy's wedding and he and his wife would vacation and play cards with David and Peggy for several wonderful years. David was an active volunteer at his parish, St. Therese of Lieisux. He could often be found working the fish fries, funeral luncheons, and special events for almost 17 years. He was very grateful to have many card playing friends often playing at each other's homes and at the local senior centers. David was further blessed to have great neighbors especially Kevin and Sue. The community is invited to celebrate David’s life and offer their condolences during the visitation on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wasik Funeral Home, Shelby Township, MI. A funeral mass will be held in his honor at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Shelby Township, MI, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, following instate in the church at 11:30 am. These services will be a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in David’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Your generosity will continue David’s legacy of giving and hope. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wasik Funeral Home - Shelby Township, ensuring David is celebrated with the dignity and respect he so richly deserves.
