Cherille L. Paruch

Cherille L. Paruch, of Shelby Township, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 76. She was born April 3, 1950, to the late Francis and Freda Malanosky. Beloved wife of Arthur Paruch and the late Paul McDaniel. Loving mother of Sherie (Bruce) Fisher. Also survived by many loving friends, family, former students, and cherished K-9 companions. Cherille passed away leaving behind a legacy of selfless devotion, intellectual brilliance, and warmth that transformed the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. A proud and distinguished educator for Detroit Public Schools, Cherille was widely loved as one of the finest elementary school teachers around. Education was her lifelong calling, and her intellect was unmatched. At every level of her schooling, she maintained a 4.0 GPA and earned membership in top academic honor societies - achieving all of these honors while working her way through school and selflessly caring for her family. In the classroom, Cherille's creativity and generosity knew no bounds. Recognizing the unique need of her students, she wrote and illustrated her own classroom books to ensure her lessons were engaging and accessible. Her care extended far beyond the school day; regularly opening her home to less fortunate students, making sure they felt loved, valued, and even having a present to open for Christmas! Over her decades in education, Cherille impacted countless young lives. She treasured boxes upon boxes of letters from former students who kept in touch with her over the years, writing to remind her of the profound, lasting mark she left on their futures. Cherille's heart was as strong as her mind. She was an extraordinary caregiver, pouring her soul into supporting those she loved through their toughest battles. She provided loving care to her first husband, Paul, during his illness, and stood faithfully by her mother when she beat cancer at the age of 90! To know Cherille was to know pure joy and laughter. She possessed a distinctive, one-of-a-kind laugh- a radiant sound so clear that the moment you heard it, you knew something was TRULY funny. She delighted in life's simple pleasures, especially a good Polish meal with kapusta, pierogi, and kielbasa. Cherille moved through life with a vibrant style and an adventurous spirit. A lifelong, passionate fan of The Rolling Stones-with a special affinity for Keith Richards- she loved attending their concerts and soaking in their music. Her signature color was red, a vibrant hue that perfectly matched her personality, and even wore a red dress on her wedding day with Art. Above all, Cherille was a deeply comforting presence- a devoted mother, a loyal wife, and friend to all. Her wisdom, fierce love, and unforgettable laughter will remain forever etched in the hearts of her family, her friends, and generations of students whose lives she changed forever.
