Ausby E. Boggess

Ausby Eugene Boggess “Gene” Ausby Eugene Boggess, age 81, of Clinton Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on July 21, 2026. He was born on March 19, 1945, in Beckley, West Virginia, to the late Ausby L. Boggess and Mary Elizabeth Boggess (née Cook). Gene was the beloved husband of Beatrice (Bea), with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. He was the loving father of Tarina (Pat) Sullivan and Melissa (Dan) Johnson, and the very proud grandfather of Dillon, Emily, and Olivia, who brought him immeasurable joy. He was the dearest brother of Joan VunCannon, Gloria Hall, the late Carol Taylor, and the late Paul Boggess. A kind, gentle, and caring man, Gene was deeply devoted to his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his wife, daughters, and especially his cherished grandchildren. He never sought the spotlight, but those who knew him appreciated his steady presence, warm heart, and dependable nature. His quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering love for those closest to him will be remembered always. Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and successful career as a skilled Tool and Die Maker, taking great pride in his craftsmanship and strong work ethic. In his free time, Gene found joy in life's simple pleasures. One of his happiest places was his garage, where he spent countless hours over the years tinkering with his project car. Throughout his life, he seemed able to fix just about anything — whether it was a car or something around the house—and he took great pride in keeping things running. He also enjoyed attending car shows, where he could admire the craftsmanship and history of vintage automobiles. In recent years, he loved playing Euchre with friends at the senior center. His easygoing nature made him a friend to many. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gene's life during visitation on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 49150 Schoenherr Road (north of 22 Mile Road), Shelby Township. A Scripture Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., followed by a time of remembrance. Family and friends are invited to share stories, memories, or a few words about Gene—whether brief or longer—as we celebrate his life together. Mr. Boggess will lie in state on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Michael Catholic Community, 40501 Hayes Road (north of 17 Mile Road), Clinton Township. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. Gene's legacy of kindness, humility, and unconditional love for his family will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
