Arnie Lesner

Arnie Lesner, of Shelby Township, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the age of 83. He was born December 13, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Mary (nee Srock) Lesner. Arnie was born and raised in Detroit, attended St. Albertus Catholic Grade School and began working at the age of 16, driving a casket delivery truck for Hub Melville at Detroit Casket Company. He then began selling caskets for United Casket Company and for over 45 years he has been an integral member of Superior Casket Company. He also began his own business providing funeral flags and supplies. Over sixty-one years ago a special lady, Patricia Posluszny, caught his eye and they have built an amazing life, family and legacy together. Arnie and Pat were always together. They never missed a beat. Both were always dressed to the nines and just enjoyed each other. Whether it was out to eat or at a party they were always smiling and loved to laugh. His infectious laugh will truly be missed. Arnie was a member of Fr. Kramer Knights of Columbus, Past President of Fr. Kramer Credit Union and longtime member of Sweetest Heart of Mary Church in Detroit. For the last 12 years Arnie was the chairman of the Sweetest Heart of Mary Pierogi Festival. Arnie was well known throughout the funeral industry. He was not just a salesman, Arnie was a friend and enjoyed his "sales calls" and catching up with all the latest news going on with the industry. He was owner of Arnie Lesner and Associates, Past President of Michigan Funeral Directors Association Salesman Club and enjoyed socializing at many different District Events. He loved to travel. He was ever devoted to the Mighty Mickey Mouse and always cherished his family trips to Walt Disney World. He also enjoyed his trips to Hawaii. He was an avid golfer and always loved his trips to Florida to golf. Arnie was a lot of things to a lot of people. Above all things he was involved with, his devotion was to his family. He loved each one of them unconditionally. He loved to spend time with them and those memories will be forever cherished. Arnie is survived by his beloved wife Patricia "Pat" of 61 years. Dear father of Nancy (Jim) Stanis, Judy (Jay) Frontera and John (Christine) Lesner. Loving grandpa of Tom (Marie), Katelyn (Brian), Stephanie (Dominic), Dominic, Steven (Kendra) and Kara (Matt). He was predeceased by his sisters, Marion, Dorothy and Eleanore. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation Thursday 3-8 p.m. and Friday 1-8 p.m. with a Scripture Service and Sharing of Memories at 7 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 49150 Schoenherr Road (north of 22 Mile Road) Shelby Township. Instate Saturday 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass 11 a.m. at Sweetest Heart of Mary Church - Mother of Divine Mercy Parish, 4440 Russell Street (corner of Canfield) Detroit.
