June 28, 1926 - May 14, 2022
Rose Mary Muliett, age 95, passed from earthly life peacefully on May 14, 2022 surrounded by family members. Born Rose Teuma in Detroit’s Corktown district in 1926, she and her younger sister were always proud of their Maltese heritage and of being the first generation to be born in the U.S. The two young ladies would eventually marry brothers of the nearby Muliett family, with Rose marrying John in 1947. John and Rose were a devoted and loving couple who would raise two children and who would put family above all else. Rose was very close with family members, often talking daily with her sister. She would often be found reading a cookbook (likely looking for Maltese recipes), enjoying talking by phone with loved ones and friends, and playing golf in her earlier years. Later in life Rose would reminisce on memories of family visits, her kids growing up, enjoying their family cottage vacations where they would spend summers, and of growing up in Corktown. Later in life the couple owned and operated Port Loke Marina in Fair Haven, MI from the late 1970s until 2012. (‘Loke’ means ‘Rose’ in Hawaiian.) She is survived by her son, J. Greg Muliett; daughter Cathie (Robert) Tripolsky; grandchildren Mary Muliett (partner Cheryl Peacock) and John (Staci) Tripolsky. The birth of her first great-grandchild, Adaline Rose Tripolsky, brought her much joy by inclusion of her given name. Rose was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter-in-law Patricia Barnard Muliett. Funeral service to celebrate her return to her Creator will be at 11:00 am Friday, May 20, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7051 Church Rd., Ira Township, Michigan. Visitation at the church begins at 10:3 am. In leau of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Fr. Solanus Guild, 1780 Mt. Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207 (SolanusCasey.org) or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
