Rosalie Scheper

April 25, 1943 - March 28, 2022

Rosalie Scheper passed away in Houston, Texas on March 28, 2022 at the age of 78. Rosalie was born in Colville, Washington on April 25, 1943. She is the beloved wife of the late Thomas. Loving mother of Darlene (Jeremy) Priest, Joseph (Jennifer) Scheper, and David (Stephanie) Scheper. Very proud grandma of Sarah, Ben, Tommy, Rosalie, and Stephanie Scheper. Rosalie was also preceded in death by mother Julia Seui Lamke Morgan, father Charles Lamke (WWII casualty), stepfather Wilson Morgan, sister Mona Pike, brother-in-law Joseph Scheper, and sister-in-law Nancy Gutmann. She is survived by brother Albert (Sandra) Lamke and in-laws Linda Scheper, Jerry (Bev) Scheper, Ron (Paula) Scheper, and Bob Gutmann. Rosalie lived in many locations throughout her childhood, including American Samoa and San Diego, and eventually attended college at Fordham University in New York for her undergraduate studies, and Ohio University for her master’s degree. She taught Spanish in several Catholic elementary and high schools throughout her career, as she and Tom raised their family in Ohio, New York, and finally Michigan. Many lifelong friends were made along the way in each place that she lived. Rosalie and Tom loved to travel, especially with dear friends Mary Jane and Dick Oldham, making countless memories and buying precious souvenirs from vendors worldwide. Rosalie also enjoyed history, puzzles, painting, and reading in her free time. But nothing made her happier than attending the performances and sporting events of her five grandchildren and watching them grow into outstanding young adults who practice their strong Catholic faith. Rosalie leaves behind a legacy defined by her generosity, humility, quiet determination, and above all, faith in God. Nothing exemplifies this more than the nine years that she took care of Tom after a debilitating stroke. For all of us who knew and loved her, there was no better role model, and she will be dearly missed. For those wishing to remember Rosalie with a charitable contribution, please consider the Daughters of Divine Charity of Staten Island (www.daughtersofdivinecharity.org). Visitation will be Thursday April 7, 2-8 PM with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Twp. Instate Friday April 8, 9:30 AM with 10 AM funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church 44633 Utica Road (s. of M-59), Utica. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
