Robert Emmett Barnwell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert “Bob/Barney” Emmett Barnwell, aged 82, longtime resident of Chesterfield, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022. Robert was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1940. He was proceeded in death by his parents Emmett and Nellie Barnwell and his sister, Paula Connor. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Frances. Throughout their years together, they survived many challenges, always with love. Bob’s determination to conquer any health issues showed his unbelievable strength and his will to live. He is the devoted father of Camille (Joseph) Culver, Renee (Jeffrey) Theisen, Robert Barnwell, Kevin Barnwell and Aimee Crellin, and Eric (Kristen) Barnwell. Committed and loving and grandfather to Morgan, London, Hailey, Zachary, Harper, and Kathryn. Adoring great-grandfather to baby Kenzo. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. Bob loved to live life and socialize with everyone. He was the king of telling stories of times long ago, and always had a joke ready to make you laugh, which in turn, made him evolve into the “Barnwell Bellow” state of laughter. Bob had a love for golf and had a group of golfing buddies for too many years to count. He was an avid fan of all Detroit Sports, and spent many afternoons watching whichever team was playing. If you visited his home, you know his hospitality was endless, and if you weren’t offered a cocktail within the first few minutes, he wasn’t home. Bob, Dad, and Grandpa, you will be forever in our hearts and we will always love you. Visitation 2:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Wasik Funeral Home – Gendernalik Chapel, 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2022 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
