Norma Rose Michael

Norma Rose Michael, age 96 of New Baltimore, passed away November 5, 2021. Norma was born on September 4, 1925 in Hamtramck, Michigan. Norma grew up in Fair Haven, Michigan along with her two cousins and was raised by her uncle and aunt. Norma moved to New Baltimore, Michigan in 1944 and has been a lifelong resident. Norma met her husband Walter thru his uncle who owned Chapoton Men's Wear. Walter took over the business in 1957 and renamed the store Michael Brother's Men's Wear. The business was a great success and became a very popular men's clothing store and was opened until 1979. Norma and Walter married in 1954. They never had any children, but Norma and Walter loved children and were very involved with the youth sport's teams in the city of New Baltimore. Norma worked for Detroit Gasket Company for 20 years and cared for her ailing mother. Norma's favorite color is blue and her most enjoyable hobbies were making crafts. Norma and Walter traveled to Arizona and were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church and members of the VFW in New Baltimore. Visitation 3:30 - 7:00 p.m., with a 6:00 p.m. Rosary, Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Gendernalik Funeral Home, 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore. Instate 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Mass, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at St. Mary Queen of Creation Church, 50931 Maria, New Baltimore. Memorials may be made to V.F.W. Post 7573.
