Mary Jo Papandrea Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Jo Papandrea (Hunt), of Chesterfield passed away peacefully on February 14, 2021, surrounded by family. Cherished daughter of Patricia and the late William and Mary Lou (Kehoe) Hunt; Loving wife of Thomas for 27 years; Beloved mother of Heather (Charles) Tocco and Nicholas; Dear sister of William Jr. (Marcy) Hunt, the late Susan (John) Shank, Patricia Hunt, Denise (José) Cara, Christopher (Diane) Hunt, Rebecca (Gregory) Miller and Margaret (Robert) Wagner. Adored aunt to 17 nieces and nephews. Mary Jo was born on July 21, 1955 in Detroit and raised in Grosse Pointe Park. Following her service in the United States Navy, Mary Jo trained to be a nurse. She spent almost 40 years working in several different hospital systems across Southeastern Michigan, beginning her career as a surgical technician until her retirement in 2020 as Chief of Reprocessing for the Veteran's Administration. She loved to sew and garden, and was an avid fan of all sports, especially her son's many ice hockey teams. She was loved and admired by many and will be profoundly missed. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux in Shelby Township, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
