May 30, 1933 - December 15, 2021
Lucille Jean Marine, of Roseville, passed away December 15, 2021 at the age of 88. She was born May 30, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to Russell and Antionette Sellors. Beloved wife of the late Frank Marine Jr. of 40 years. Loving 19-year companion of Bob Turczyn. Devoted Mother to Michael John Marine and Michele Therese Marine. Proud Grandmother of Jon Marine (Louisa Marine), Austin Marine (Alyssa Marine), Jaime Marine and Noah Piper Brown. Proud sister of Frank Sellors. Lucille was a loving niece and doting Aunt to many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, cousins and a host of neighbors, colleagues and friends who she deeply loved. She never met a stranger and had a ready smile, hug and a kiss for all who were blessed to know her. Lucille graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1951 and began working for Chrysler upon graduation. A few years later, she was introduced on a blind date to Frank Marine Jr. by the sister of an Aunt, who shared simply that he "had shiny shoes and clean nails." Apparently that was enough to seal the deal! They married in 1959 and set up their loving homestead in Roseville, Michigan, where she remained for 62 years until her passing. Their home was a beautiful and welcoming gathering place for all, the location of many happy family gatherings and the addition of her beautiful "sanctuary" patio hand built by her handy husband where she enjoyed most of her summer meals and intimate outdoor gatherings of family and friends. She was thrilled to become a Mom and raised two children, Michael and Michele, and was later blessed with four wonderful grandchildren who were her everything. During her career after becoming a Mom, she also worked for Weight Watchers for 54 years where she enjoyed her family of colleagues and devoted members. She loved to encourage others to lead and live happy, healthy lifestyles. She also worked for McDonald's (not so healthy!) where she met a host of lifelong wonderful friends. She later worked for University of Liggett where her students were smitten with their "lunchroom lady!" She loved to encourage them, love on them and pass out stickers and hugs. Her greatest pride and joy was her precious grandchildren, whose names were more often than not interchangeable! They loved outings and overnights, beach visits, family game nights, park visits, movies, snuggles and occasionally ice cream for breakfast exclaiming "It's a dairy!" with their Grandma Lou and Grandpa Frank before his passing in 1999. She was surrounded by legions of loving neighbors, church friends and colleagues with whom she loved to visit. She was always first to send a loving card or make a phone call or visit to anyone who needed a bit of cheer. She was always impeccably dressed and loved coordinating special outfits, makeup and jewelry for her outings, or even a leisurely afternoon at home! Her mark of love was a tiny lipstick print bestowed gently on the cheek of all who she loved. She was a faith-filled woman who enjoyed her Catholic faith, as well as many years in her beloved Renaissance Unity Church, and devotedly prayed for her loved ones and the world each and every morning during her quiet prayer and reflection time. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her and will undoubtedly make her presence known from her rightful place in Paradise until we meet again. Peace. Be still, faithful and humble servant, deeply loved and eternally cherished. We are so grateful to have ejoyed these 88 1/2 years with you here on the earth plane. Plans are currently underway for a joy-filled outdoor celebration of her beautiful life some time next summer at a more hospitable time. She loved a great picnic! Donations in her memory: Father Solanus Casey Center (Detroit, Michigan) or St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
