Lorraine Wolanski

July 20, 1930 - March 14, 2022

Lorraine M. Wolanski entered eternal life on March 14, 2022. Lorraine was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 20, 1930, to Polish immigrants John and Catherine (Kus) Wolanski. Lorraine attended St. Hyacinth grade school and graduated from St. Stanislaus High School in 1948. Lorraine enjoyed a successful career with General Motors for over 30 years. Upon her retirement, she volunteered at St. John Hospital for over 20 years along with her sister, Jane Tralka. Lorraine was known for her generosity towards family and friends, and sponsoring children, orphans and the elderly through Catholic Charities. She was a faithful Catholic with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Lorraine was a devoted member of St. Hyacinth Roman Catholic Church in Detroit her entire life. She was extremely proud of her Polish heritage. She kept in touch with and financially supported her family living in Poland. Lorraine was the youngest of four girls. Her beloved sisters, Emily Olinzock and Sophie Resmer, predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her three brothers-in-law, Joe Tralka, Ed Olinzock and Leonard Resmer. Lorraine is survived by her remaining sister, Jane Tralka, who was her constant companion and best friend. They enjoyed going to see movies, traveling together, reminiscing about their childhood and shared many of the same friendships. She was a loving and generous Aunt to her many nieces and nephews and their families. Those left to cherish her memory include Mary Ann (late Tom) Amori, Daniel Resmer, Geralyn (MIke) Tellier, John Olinzock, Norene (late Jerry) Olejnik, Dale Olinzock, Margaret (Gus) LaRuffa, Paul (Margie) Olinzock, Barbara (Steve) Kilcline, Alan (Lisa) Olinzock, Nancy (Pete) Hannan and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her nephews Michael and Dennis (Kim) Tralka and her great niece, Emily Olinzock. Visitation will be Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 2-8pm with a rosary at 6pm at the Wasik Funeral Home, 11470 Thirteen Mile Rd, Warren. Family and friends will gather on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 9:30 am with a funeral mass at 10am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Solanus Casey Center, 1780 Mt. Elliott, Detroit 48207 and/or St. Hyacinth Roman Catholic Church, 3151 Farnsworth, Detroit 48211. Lorraine was also a passionate supporter of the children of the Oknocycia Dom Dzeieka orphanage in her mother's hometown of Rzeszow, Poland. The family asks that cash donations or checks made payable to cash for the orphanage be sent to 2119 Applebrook Drive, Commerce Township, MI 48382.
