November 15, 1934 - June 11, 2022
On June 11, 2022 Lillian DeHem Tegel passed away at the age of 87. Lillian is survived by her children Renee Tegel, Daniel Tegel, and Susan Kuchenmeister (Randy); granddaughters Melissa Kuchenmeister (Brian Mahlmeister) and Elizabeth Bagwell (Andrew); and great granddaughter, Sloan Elizabeth Bagwell. She is also survived by her brother Richard DeHem (Cindy), and sister Elizabeth Thebert. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Robert, daughter-in-law Vonda, brother in law Alan Thebert, and sister Theresa Mitchell. On November 15, 1934, Lillian was born to Laura and Marcel DeHem in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She attended Southeastern High School in Detroit. In 1953 Lillian met Bob Tegel on a blind date, and they were married on July 24, 1954. Lillian and Bob raised their three children in St. Clair Shores and at their cottage on the shores of Lake Huron in Port Sanilac. During their 46 year marriage, Lillian and Robert traveled extensively as charter members of Nomads, and Lillian continued to travel after Bob passed away in 2000. Lillian had many creative talents including, sewing, painting, counted cross stitch, crocheting, woodworking (with Bob), crafting and gardening. And though Lillian was never much of an athlete, she took up golf in her later years and was a mighty fine player! We love Mom, and we will miss her terribly, but her peace brings us peace. There will be a private memorial for Lillian's immediate family. If you would like to honor Lillian, her family requests that memorial donations be made to the Robert and Lillian Tegel Endowed Scholarship at Macomb Community College.
