Edwin Schmidt Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edwin Schmidt born August 29, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan passed away on March 5, 2021 in Shelby, Township at the age of 71. Ed graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School and worked with his father in the family business, Grosse Pointe Fish Market, on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe. He later assumed ownership and ran the store for many years. Ed was also very proficient in using computers, specifically business software and after he sold the business he became an instructor at Macomb Community college. In his pastime, he enjoyed being outdoors and watching the ducks and wildlife at the nearby creek and visiting with the neighbors passing by. He was the loving husband of JoAnn. Dear stepfather of James (Marcella) Weir and Daniel (Rachel) Weir. Step-grandfather of Neil, Joey, Logan, Candice, Nathan and step-great grandchildren Matthew and Mackenzie. Dear brother of Geraldine (the late Robert) Francis and the late Elaine Foster and Barbara LaManna. Dearest son of the late Edwin and Lillian Schmidt. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and cousins. Visitation Saturday, March 13, 2021 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (North of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Township. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
