David V. Grabowski

May 28, 1941 - May 18, 2022

David V. Grabowski, of Sterling Heights, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the age of 80. He was born May 28, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Anthony and Helen Grabowski. Beloved husband of Celeste and the late Jean. Dearest father of Paula (Curtis Logan) Grabowski, James (Basia) Grabowski, Michael (Nicole) Grabowski, Valerie (Brian) Brumm, Laura (Rob) Robinson, and Carl Hulett. Loving grandfather of Bryson, Lylah, Gunnar, Norah, Deacon, and Maliyah. Dear brother of Delphine (the late Walter) Rutkowski, the late Christine (the late Jack) Godin, the late Jane Grabowski, and the late Anthony Grabowski. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends. David was a proud member of the PRCUA and United States Marine Corps Reserves. In his free time, he loved bowling; he played on many leagues over the years with his brother and nephews. After retiring from American Axle, David became very active in the Polish American Historic Site Association. During his time with PAHSA, he would tend to maintenance and projects at St. Albertus Catholic Church, which as a devout Catholic, truly meant a lot to him. His volunteering there spoke to his giving and generous nature and spilled over to many other charities and organizations that he would donate to, be it Veteran, religious, or child healthcare related, David was always thinking of how he could help others. His family recalls how any time a friend or family member needed help fixing something, he was always there, no matter how easy or difficult, long or short the project was...there he was to make sure it got done. David also enjoyed hours upon hours of Euchre and treasured time spent up north, especially at Legg's Inn where he could get some good Polish cooking even up north. He was well loved by all and will be dearly missed. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Choir Performance and Wednesday 1-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (West of Hoover) Warren. Instate Thursday 10:30 a.m. until an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Albertus Catholic Church, 4231 St. Aubin Street (corner of Canfield) Detroit. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be addressed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, AMVETS, Help Heal Veterans, or Vietnam Veterans of America.
