March 22, 1945 - March 13, 2022
Anthony “Tony” Joseph Schorr, beloved husband of Helen Schorr, father of Angela Evans and Amanda Franks, left us unexpectedly on Sunday, March 13th, 2022. Tony is survived by his wife, Helen Schorr, daughter Angela Evans and her husband David Evans, daughter Amanda Franks and his grandchildren, Ryan Evans, Sophia Franks, Declan Franks, and step-grandchild, Austin Franks, brothers Richard Tchorzynski and Christopher Tchorzynski, and many dear family members and friends. Tony was born on March 22, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Helen (Szafarz) and Richard Tchorzynski. He grew up in Detroit with his 3 brothers Dennis, Richard, and Christopher, and sister, Bernadette. He came from a large Polish American family with many aunts, uncles and cousins with whom many wonderful memories were made. After graduating from St Hedwig High School, he served in the US Army in Korat, Thailand. After his time in the military, Tony earned a bachelor’s from Wayne State University and a master’s degree from Central Michigan University. Tony made excellent use of his degree and worked in the automotive industry for AMC and Chrysler as a Program Manager and executive till he retired in 2001. In his younger years he loved to be active and ski, that is how he met his wife, Helen. They began their life together and lived in Detroit, Michigan for a time and then moved to New Baltimore, Michigan. There they raised their daughters, Angela and Amanda, and resided there for many years till they started a new adventure in Plainwell, Michigan. He and Helen enjoyed several years on Pine Lake with family and friends till they moved back to Chesterfield, Michigan in recent years. Last summer they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Tony loved reading books, watching sci-fi shows and all kinds of movies. He loved fishing, golf, going for walks, taking drives and enjoyed traveling. “Tony was a great tinkerer and if something was broke, he had a talent for fixing it.” He liked to keep busy and always put his all in everything he did. Tony found happiness in the simple things and made each day count. If you looked up the definition of family man in the dictionary, you would be sure to see a picture of Tony next to it. He loved his family beyond measure. Tony was always there to help, offer support, and share his loving heart with his wife, daughters, grandchildren, family and friends. Tony was strong in his faith, attended church regularly, and always sent blessings to his loved ones. “God Bless and Love You” were always heard at the end of conversation, message, a call or seen in a card or note. So to you our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, up in Heaven, we say “God Bless, We Love You, and You Will Always Be in Our Hearts.” Visitation for Anthony will be on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until a 8:00 p.m. with an evening Rosary Service at the Wasik Funeral Home Gendernalik Chapel, 32559 Twenty Three Mile Rd.
