Anthony was born in Detroit in 1939 to parents Vincenzo “Jimmy” and Vincenza “Florence” Malta. He was the second oldest of 4 children including Joseph (Elena), Gerald (Marcia) and Catherine Cecil (Eugene). Anthony graduated from Northeastern High School in 1957 and joined the Navy in 1958 serving for 2 years in Norfolk VA aboard the USS Greenwich Bay. Anthony graduated from Wayne State University in 1973 with a degree in Journalism. He worked throughout the Detroit area for over 50 years at local newspapers including The Detroit Free Press, The Macomb Daily, The Dearborn Press, The Daily Sentinel, The Source and the Birmingham Observer Eccentric as a columnist, editor, and occasional cartoonist. Anthony also worked in public relations at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, Chrysler as well as with his own company The Press Corps Inc. Anthony was an active member of the Society of Professional Journalists. He loved his church family at Utica Church of Christ and donated both his time and energy over the years. Anthony is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances; two daughters, Adrienne and Michelle (Robert); two grandchildren Will and Finn; and countless nieces, nephews, and family friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday June 26, 2021 at 11am at Utica Church of Christ 13505 Nineteen Mile Rd. Sterling Hgts. MI 48313. Masks will be mandatory while in the church and please practice social distancing. For those unable to attend in-person, the service will be available via YouTube Live Stream.
