William Paul Carpenter

William "Bill" P. Carpenter, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the age of 69. He was born June 7, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Billie and Marilyn Carpenter. Bill graduated in 1972 from Edwin Denby High School in Detroit. He worked for 37 years at Chrysler Corporation as a Hi-Lo driver until his retirement in 2009. He soon realized that retirement was not for him and joined the workforce again at Home Depot. On September 15, 1996 Bill married the love of his life, Kathy. They made their home in Warren for 27 years where they would raise their two beautiful children together. Bill was extremely proud of his children's educational accomplishments. Sarah is continuing her education at Saginaw Valley State University pursuing a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. Billy recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wayne State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. Bill was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed hunting at the family cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. To him it was not all about the hunt, it was all about spending time with his dad, brother Mike and what ever family and friends joined them. Bill was quite the do it yourself handy man and enjoyed completing projects around the house. He liked to visit his brother Steve in Florida where it was never a sit around and relax vacation. There was always a project or two to complete while he was there. His handyman skills were also put to use at the "Halfway House" (name given to Mike's cottage because it was halfway between home and the cabin in the Upper Peninsula)! Bill enjoyed listening to his audio books on tape, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and driving his 1972 Ford LTD convertible. The memory of Bill will continue on in our hearts forever. He will be greatly missed. He was the loving husband of the late Kathleen (nee: Cook) Carpenter. Dear father of Sarah and Billy. Loving brother of Mike (Joanie) Carpenter, Mary (Dave) Zieman and Steve Carpenter. Brother-in-law of Karen (Joe) Walters, John (Cheryl) Cook, and Ray VandenEynde. Proud uncle of Erika, Michael, Tina, Eric, Rachel, Ricky, Sammy, John Adam, and Joey. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Marilyn Carpenter, his parents-in-law Doris and Jerry Cook, sister-in-law Susan VandenEynde and his nephew Adam Zieman. Visitation will be Friday, March 8th from 3-8 pm with a funeral service at 7pm at Wasik Funeral Home, Inc 11470 Thirteen Mile Rd., Warren MI. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are greatly appreciated.
