Wanda Pulbratek

Wanda Pulbratek was gently called home by the Lord on January 18, 2008. She was preceded into eternal life by her husband of 46 years (Mitchell) and daughter Helen. She is survived by her son John. Simply put, Wanda Pulbratek was a devoted wife and mother, Along with her husband Mitchell she strove to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing home for their two children (Helen and John). In her later years, she took special joy in witnessing their life’s journey and seeing the role she played in their development. It was important to Wanda to maintain the Ethnic (Polish) and family traditions associated with the different Holidays. She took care in decorating her house for each Holiday, for each was special to her. In recent years she was always on the lookout for items to add to her Christmas Village (which this year exceeded 80 individual buildings). She also found special enjoyment in returning to her hometown of Hamtramck every Easter Season. There she would enjoy a luncheon of Polish delights and then shop the various stores to procure the various food items she needed for her Easter Blessing Basket that she would prepare and then take to church on Holiday Saturday for the traditional blessing. Wanda enjoyed travels especially during the Fall color season. The Fall Mountain Craftsman festival in Gatlinburg Tenn. in the Smoky Mountains was one of her favorite places to visit. She would find as much joy in the discovery of a new diner or flea market along the way as she did when reaching her final destination. Finally Wanda enjoyed puttering in her garden. Her garden always had a variety of style and color of roses. She also took great care in choosing the types of flowers that would surround the Blessed Virgin and Angel statues in her garden. She enjoyed planting a small vegetable garden each Spring and waited in anticipation for the ripening of that first tomato which she could enjoy. Additionally she always looked forward in anticipation for her Spring pilgrimage to Bordine Nursery where she would wander the aisles looking to see if there were any new flower variety or color she might be able to incorporate in the coming year. Still if you really wanted to capture the true essence of Wanda Pulbratek in one sentence, it would have to be this. Wanda was a loving lady who went about trying to do good in quiet ways for those she loved and those in need.
