Virginia H. Mousty

Virginia H. Mousty, born in Detroit, Michigan on February 26, 1940, passed away peacefully at her home in Macomb Township on July 31, 2026, at the age of 86. Virginia was the beloved wife of the late Duane. Loving mother of John (Shelly) Mousty and Kevin (Victoria) Mousty. Dear mother-in-law of the late Debra Mousty. She was the very proud Grandma of Meagan (Michael) Hummon, Tara (John) Watson, Grace Mousty, Joseph Mousty, Caroline (John) Layman, and Nathan Smith. She was also the cherished Gigi of Claire, John, and Catherine. Dearest sister of the late Eleanor (the late Theodore) Rdzanek, the late Chester Szymanski, and the late Ronald (Judy) Szymanski. Virginia dedicated her life to both her family and her career. She began working at Michigan Bell before choosing to become a stay-at-home mother while raising her young children. As her family grew older, she returned to the workforce at Michigan National Bank as a bank teller. Her supervisors quickly recognized her exceptional work ethic, leadership, and organizational talents, leading to her promotion into management, a position she proudly held until her retirement. During the early years of her marriage, Virginia and Duane shared a home with Duane's mother. The two developed a close and loving relationship that would last a lifetime. It was through her mother-in-law that Virginia discovered her lifelong love of Red Rose Tea. That simple pleasure remained a daily tradition, and the treasured Red Rose Tea figurines and keepsakes displayed throughout her home served as sweet reminders of those cherished memories. Virginia also treasured the friendships she formed as a young girl. She remained close with the same group of friends she had known since grade school, making it a priority throughout her life to gather regularly and celebrate the lifelong bonds they shared. She found joy in many activities, including golfing, bowling, playing dominos, and card games. Family and friends knew that sitting down with Virginia for a game of CLR or Polish Poker often meant leaving with a lighter pocket, as she had a knack for winning everyone's spare change while making sure everyone had a wonderful time. Above all else, Virginia's greatest loves were her faith and her family. Her home reflected those priorities, filled with countless photographs of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She took immense pride in every milestone, every accomplishment, and every opportunity to spend time with those she loved most. Her unwavering devotion, gentle spirit, and warm heart created a legacy that will continue to live on through the family she cherished so deeply. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 49150 Schoenherr Road (north of 22 Mile Road), Shelby Township. Virginia will lie in state on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 18201 23 Mile Road (corner of Romeo Plank Road), Macomb Township. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
