Virginia A. Baumgartner

Virginia Ann Baumgartner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2026, at the age of 75 in Algonac, MI. Born on October 31st, 1951, in Mt. Clemens, MI, she lived a life filled with love, faith, and an unwavering positivity that touched everyone she met. Virginia was the heart and matriarch of her large family. A devoted wife of 48 years to her beloved Hazen Stewart Baumgartner III and mother to her five children Scott, Tony, Kristin, Jessica, and Amanda, she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and faith. She had a deep love for music, often filling the home with song and sharing her favorite music with family and friends while performing as a vocalist and front person with various Country and Western bands throughout the years. Gathering loved ones around her brought her the greatest joy; whether hosting celebrations, attending special family and religious events, or simply enjoying quiet moments together, she made every occasion special. Her strong Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She found comfort and strength in prayer, attended Mass faithfully, and lived her beliefs through acts of kindness, compassion, and service to others. Virginia was known as the most positive person in the lives of those who knew her. Even in difficult times, she chose hope, encouragement, and gratitude, lifting the spirits of her family and friends with her radiant smile and gentle wisdom. The term “angel on earth” has been used by many of her friends and loved ones to describe her. Virginia made friends with everyone she met. Her kind spirit and friendly personality had a profound effect on people who met her even once, and made others instantly feel they were accepted into her life and family. Virginia is survived by her husband Hazen, four living children Scott (Christa), Kristin (Brent), Jessica, and Amanda; Her son Tony who passed away in 2017. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren Allison, Bela, Hazen, Avalene, Quintin, Annika, Oliver, Brinley, Eella, Gaetana, and Antonia, as well as her siblings Marianna Sebastian and Stephanie Smith. Her legacy of love, faith, and positivity will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Visitation will be at Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel located at 35229 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore, MI on July 19, 2026 from 1:00PM-8:00PM. There will be a rosary service at 4:00PM. A funeral Mass will be held on July 20, 2026 at 11:30 AM with her lying instate starting at 11:00AM at St. Catherine Catholic Church located at 1103 Washington St. Algonac, MI 48001, followed by burial at St. Catherine Cemetery located at 1717 Smith St. Algonac, MI 48001.
