Theodore "Ted Karr" Karwowicz

Theodore "Ted Karr" Karwowicz passed away on Thursday October 26, 2017 at Henry Ford Medical Facility in Detroit, Michigan. Ted was born on March 4, 1945 in Detroit to Theodore and Lillian Karwowicz. Ted Karr was a man of many passions and was universally loved by all those whose lives had been influenced by him. Ted was a graduate of Denby High School (class of 1963). Upon graduating Ted entered the work force finding employment helping people meet their transportation needs at various automotive dealerships across Metro Detroit. Ted eventually found himself at the managers desk leading his sales crew as a car/truck manager. Ted found solace in helping others and he spent much of his time volunteering for various organizations and clubs in the Shelby Twp. and Utica areas. When Ted wasn’t volunteering his time he was on the sidelines of his grandkids activities cheering and applauding their various accomplishments where he was their #1 fan. If you went to a Romeo area sporting event Ted was usually there. He was especially proud of his sons accomplishments, his passion for coaching continued with the success of his youngest “ Genetic Malfunction” Michael! He was a lifelong Detroit Tiger Fan. As a proud Polish American he never missed a picnic, and believed highly in continuing family Polish Traditions. Ted could often times be HEARD in the stands cheering and offering advice for his boys and other people’s kids too! He was an outstanding coach winning many championships as a coach for his sons and their teammates with Shelby Twp/Utica Little League and the YMCA Basketball program’s. In keeping with his spirit of volunteerism Ted was a member and board member of the Shelby Township Lions Club and a board member for the Utica/Eisenhower Boosters Club as well as the Madison Heights Bishop Foley High School Dad’s Club. Ted Karr’s faith and belief in family tradition was an important part of his life as well and he was an active member of St. Kieran Catholic Community in Shelby Twp. Ted is the dear father of Kevin and Michael (Kristie) Karwowicz. Proud grandfather Alexis, Grace, Cole, Aubrey and Addison Karwowicz. Dear brother of Daniel and (Kathy) Karwowicz, Tina (Rick) Mieszanek and Diane (Bob) Slowik. Visitation Monday 10-1 with a Noon Memorial Service at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Twp. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made directly to the family with funds being used for the dedication of a bench in Ted’s honor to be placed outside the new Romeo Football Stadium (please mail checks C/O Kevin Karwowicz 53024 Providence Dr, Shelby Twp 48316.) Following the services at the funeral home the family kindly requests your presence at a lunch honoring Ted to be served at Marcus Grill Restaurant 55690 Van Dyke Ave. (n. of 25 Mile Rd.)
