Stephen K. Tiska (Bunny)

Stephen K. Tiska (Bunny) passed away Wednesday; October 4, 2006 at his residence in St. Clair Shores at the age of 75. He was born April 21, 1931 in Detroit. Treasured and loving husband of Dolores (nee Srock). Admired dad of Doreen Tiska, Carol (Carl) Harrison and Greg (Becky) Tiska. Loving grandfather of Gary, Christopher, Michael and Sarah Tiska, Stephanie, Brian, Randy, Carl Michael (Angelina), Pam (Todd) Greer and John (Amanda) Harrison and Gregory, Natalie, Stephen, Paul and Kora Tiska. Special grandpa to Betsy. Special great grandfather of Baby Gary, son of Gary Tiska and Christine; Dylan, son of Stephanie Harrison and Derek; Kaden and Collin, sons of Gregory Tiska; Alexa, daughter of Carl Michael (Angelina); Autumn and Hunter, children of Pam (Todd) and Austin and Meagan, children of John (Amanda). Survived by his brother Bob, sister, Alice (Al) Kovacik, daughter-in-law Linda and Terri and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends. He was predeceased by his children, Stephen, Karen and Gary; his parents, Alice and Stephen; brother, Tom and wife Mary Carroll and in-laws, Joe and Josephine Srock. Steve was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy Atlantic Amphibious Force during the Korean War. During his military service, he was a trophy-winning Light/Middle weight boxing champion in 1952, nicknamed “Stanley Steamer”. One of many interesting stories Steve loved to tell was while serving in the Navy, he took a leisurely swim off the ship where, to his dismay, he encountered some swimming companions - -Barracuda! He would laugh telling this story but admitted he was truly frightened at the time. Any free time was golf orientated. He was an excellent golfer because he loved the game so much. In his earlier years, he pursued a pilot’s license, but then started a family and they came first. Throughout his life, he loved to read, including the dictionary! So it’s only natural that everyone went to him for facts and information. And, because he knew so much about many things, it was not only educational, but also a pleasure to listen to him. He retired as a graphic artist, and was known as one of the best in the screen printing industry. We will miss him dearly.
