Raymond P. VandenEynde

Raymond “Ray” Paul VandenEynde, 66, of Roseville, MI passed away on April 21, 2026. He was born December 22, 1969 in Detroit, MI, the son of Sharon Brant and Raymond VandenEynde. Ray is finally reconnected with the love of his life, Susan (Cook) VandenEynde after she waited for 23 years. They were married on April 18th, 1987 in Haleiwa, Hawaii at Waimea Falls Park. Ray and Susan grew up across the street from each other and found their way back to each other after Ray returned to Michigan. Ray was in the Navy and served on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower as an Ike crewmember during his service, until his honorable discharge in 1985. He was awarded the sea service deployment ribbon with one star, the Navy and marine corps expeditionary medal, the Navy unit commendation awarded, and the Navy “E” Award (2 “E” ‘S). He worked his way up to becoming a Journeyman Machine Repairman at Ford Motor Company for 30 years before retiring in 2024. Ray loved his daughter and dogs more than anything. He loved going fishing, especially with his brother, Dennis. He spent a lot of time at his cabin in Beaverton, MI enjoying the outdoors. He was enjoying retirement, keeping busy updating his house, and spending more time with his dog, Mirabelle. He had a soft spot for his daughter's dog, Milo; He was always asking his daughter to give Milo an extra hug for him. Ray was an avid movie watcher, always talking about new movies coming out or old movies that he had come across. He loved watching sports, rooting for Detroit’s teams. He attended concerts with his daughter multiple times a year, singing and dancing with her. “People die twice: once when they stop breathing and the second, a bit later on, when somebody mentions their name for the last time.” Those who keep Ray’s memory alive include his daughter, Samantha (VandenEynde) Diaz, son-in-law Joseph Diaz, sister Darlene (Tim) Kubinac, brother Dennis (Angie) VandenEynde, sister-in-law Karen (Joe) Walters, brother-in-law John (Cheryl) Cook, nephews: Rick, John, Joe, Billy, Nick, and Chris, nieces: Sarah and Nicole. Preceding Ray in death are his spouse, Susan, his parents Sharon Brant and Raymond VandenEynde, his parents-in-law Doris McAuley and Jerome Cook. sister-in-law Kathy Carpenter, brother-in-law Bill Carpenter, and niece Jasmine. Visitation will be held on 4/28/2026 from 2pm-8pm at Wasik Funeral Home. Service will be held on 4/29 at 11am at Wasik Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Resurrection Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by Pastor Chris Zarbaugh. Please come to celebrate Ray’s life in comfortable casual clothing. No need to dress up or buy new clothes. He would prefer a casual celebration of his life.
