Norbert John Skorupski

Norbert John Skorupski, resident of Warren for 61 years, died peacefully in his home on June 1, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was 91 years old. He was born in Detroit on June 6, 1932 to the late Frank and Genevieve (nee Sokolowski) Skorupski. He was the beloved husband of Betty for 65 years. They were married on October 11, 1958 at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Detroit. He is also survived by his loving daughters, Deborah Scott and Sharon (Rodney Lucas) Skorupski and grandsons, Zachery Ramus (Colleen Smith), Trevor Ramus and Andrew Ramus. Norbert was the dear brother of the late Delores (the late Leonard) Kozlowski, the late Gerald (Betty) Skorupski, the late Conrad (Rosemarie) Skorupski, the late Dennis (Sue) Skorupski and the late Carol Kosnik; dear brother in law of Casmir (Anne) Gajewski and the late Joan Vivona; stepbrother of the late Carole (the late Ronald) Polus and Donald (Marilyn) Plungis. He was also the beloved uncle of many loving nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Anne (nee Plungis) Skorupski. He was a faith-filled man who attended mass religiously every week. He was also known for his sense of humor and patience. Norbert enjoyed reminiscing about spending time at his grandparents' (Sokolowski) farm in Smith's Creek helping with farm chores and getting into mischief with his twin brother, Conrad. These were some of his happiest memories growing up. A few of his favorite pastimes were bowling and golfing which he did for many years in leagues. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family; skiing, vacationing out of state and camping up north at East Tawas. He later enjoyed taking extended gambling bus trips up north with the "Sno-Poles". He was an honorable member of the U.S. Army for 2 years and was stationed in Germany for the majority of that time. He was very proud to have served his country. After his time in the military, he worked for the U.S. Post Office for 33 years. Retiring in 1990, he continued to work various other part-time jobs. He was always eager to lend a helping hand with handyman projects for his family and friends. He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Family and friends will gather Thursday at 9:30 a.m. until a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 Twelve Mile Road (between Schoenherr and Hayes) Warren. He will be laid to rest in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
