Kathryn Hedwig Blaut

Kathryn Hedwig Blaut, passed away on Monday, March, 6, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born in Lvov, Poland on May 14, 1936, to the late Jozef and Rozalia Gawinski. Dearest mother of Edward Nerowski and Elizabeth Grobelski. Beloved companion of Janusz Blaut. Kathryn was a cherished aunt to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by many loving friends. Kathryn was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Anna Niebieszczanski; and her brother, John Gawinski; and son-in-law, David Grobelski. Kathryn was also predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Valenty Nerowski. Kathryn worked for Chatham Supermarkets- Corporate Office in Warren, MI. Later, she would marry Janusz Blaut; she worked with him in further establishing John Upholstery Co. in Livonia, MI. Kathryn was very dedicated to her Catholic faith; she participated in various church activities at Our Lady on the River Parish, St. Mark’s Chapel; Our Lady of Czestochowa, St. Louise and St. Aidan. Kathryn was active for many years with the American Polish Cultural Center, in Troy, MI. She readily would volunteer her knowledge, skills and abilities to help out in a project or any general task. Kathryn maintained the Polish Family Traditions, especially for Wigilia/Christmas and Easter. She loved to bake kolaczki (Polish Cookies) for Christmas. Every holiday dinner had the traditional courses prepared with her special touches and love. Kathryn’s life centered on Catholic faith, family and fellowship. She loved her family; doing anything to help them; and spending time with them. She was the one that always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, relevant events and special occasions. She would always timely send a greeting card or make a telephone call. She enjoyed the Polish American Community; she was grateful for the Catholic Social Services Programs that helped sponsor her family here after the war; and thankful to have many friends and family members that always kept in touch. Kathryn will lie instate Monday, March 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. until Mass Time. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 3100 18 Mile Road (West of Ryan/South Side of 18 Mile) Sterling Heights, MI. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010 or St. Joseph’s Indian School, 1301 North Main Street, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
