Judy Ann Hale

Judy Smith Hale passed away on August 29, 2023, peacefully and surrounded by family. Originally from Detroit, after retiring from PVS Chemicals, she and her husband made their home in Chesterfield, Michigan. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Marion and William Smith, and her sister Mary Smith Lancaster. Judy is survived by her loving husband Ray, her son, Jeffery, and his wife; her sister and brother, Pat Walsh and Joe Smith; goddaughter and niece, Kara Luplow; niece and nephew Laurie Lancaster and Michael Lancaster. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Betty Hale and Barbara McHugh. Judy also dearly loved all her nieces and nephews. Ray and Judy met a bit later in life and fell in love. They loved traveling, visiting casinos, and visiting with both friends and family. They were so lucky to find each other and created a beautiful life together for 28 years. She dearly loved and was loved by her lifelong friend, Terrie Liester and her husband, Rich. Together with their husbands, they loved spending time together and traveling to new places. Judy was also fortunate enough to have the love of another family that was as close to her as her own, which included the late Joe Rudy, Sr., Billie Rudy (mom), Malia, Joe, Butch, and John, as well as many more nieces and nephews. Anyone that knew Judy knew that her fur-babies brought her so much joy and love. She was known to prepare meals for them which often included pot roast, chicken and pasta, or pork chops. Judy especially loved the Christmas Holidays, decorating, cooking, and delivering her homemade fudge to friends and family. She always made Christmas Eve so special in her home for her family. She always wanted everyone to feel special, to laugh, and to leave with more leftovers than you can imagine. Second to her family, Judy was most proud of her career achievements, which included, after years of hard work and tenacity, her role as Vice President of PVS Chemicals – Mexico Division. Judy gave so much to everyone she touched, always the caretaker. She is greatly loved and will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michigan Humane Society are appreciated.
