Joseph J. Wasik, Born on April 7, 1942 in Detroit, passed away on July 27, 2014, Shelby Township, Michigan, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 72. Joe was a resident of Shelby Township and Presque Isle Harbor, Michigan, and formerly of Warren and Detroit. He was a peaceful man and loved a simple existence with Camille in Presque Isle Harbor, Michigan. Joe cherished spending time with his family and was a very positive and optimistic person. He liked people to know he was "Just Ducky” and feeling great in life. He was the co-owner of Wasik Funeral Homes, a member of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association, where he recently received recognition for being a Funeral Director for 50 years. He was a passionate man who had a great love for his profession and managing the Funeral Home in Warren. Joe was very devoted to his faith, he was a member of St. Martin de Porres Parish and formerly of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Loving and devoted husband of Camille for over 49 years; loving and proud father of Betsy (Len) Jenaway, Joseph P. (Lee Ann) Wasik, and Audrey (Keith) Jeffrey, and dear friend of Monsignor Gary T. Smetanka. Loving Papa of Adam, Noah, Caitlin, Jacob, Julia and Matthew. Dear Brother of Olga (the late John) Lewinski, Jerry (Mary Ann) Wasik, Henrietta (Bob) Steiner, and the late Mary Ann Wasik. Dear brother-in-law of Mary Ann (the late Bill) Votruba and Bernie (Gary) Golbesky. Joe was also survived by his nieces and nephews; Mary Ellen, Michael, Scott, Rob, Jeff, Mark, Cookie and Dolly. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-9 pm, and on Thursday from 3-9 pm, with a vigil service at 7 pm Thursday at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 11470 Thirteen Mile Rd. (w. of Hoover Road) Warren. Joe will lay in state Friday 9:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Church, 31555 Hoover Rd. (Warren). Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Discalced Carmelites Sisters on Moravian Road (Clinton Twp.) or St. Aloysius Church (Franciscan Friars) located on Washington Blvd in Detroit.
