Jonathan Michael Rock

Jonathan “Jon” Michael Rock, 36, of Acampo, California, entered eternal rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior on September 7, 2026. Jon was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, and his light in this world will be deeply missed. Jon was born in Warren, Michigan, on November 18, 1989 to John and Maureen Rock, along with his twin sister, Jen. Jon had fond memories of his early childhood in Warren, which added to his love of Detroit. He spent his days outside of school riding bikes, playing sports, climbing trees, running in the front yard, swimming in his Nana and Papa’s pool, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and playing with his closest friends and twin sister. As a child, he developed a strong appreciation for his American heritage and was drawn to studying it, which led to a deep respect for the military, a desire to honor those who came before him, and an understanding from an early age of the sacrifices that were made for the freedoms we have today. Jon went on to graduate from Eisenhower High School in 2008. There, he found a love for and talent in cross country and track. His extraordinary work ethic and dedication to the sport led to an impressive career in which, to this day, he remains a school record holder and holds the school’s highest state meet finish, with a 3rd-place finish at the 2007 Division I MHSAA State Meet. Jon was named the Academic-Athlete of the Class of 2008, which not only acknowledged his athleticism but also his dedication in the classroom. Named team captain and team MVP, Jon will be remembered as a gifted leader who encouraged those around him by modeling hard work and pushing the team to greater success. Heavily recruited by Division I universities, he had his heart set on combining his love for history, the military, academics, and running. This ultimately led to his decision to run cross country and track at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There, he earned the prestigious title of Honor Basic, became a member of the “500 Club,” was honored with a Commandant’s Pin for excellence in military performance, served as Element NCO, Academic Clerk, and Athletic NCO, and earned Mountain West All-Conference honors. After Jon’s time in the Air Force, he found his way to California, where he met the love of his life, Lara, in 2017. In typical Jon Rock fashion, his adventurous heart and outgoing spirit immediately swept Lara off her feet, with their second date including skydiving. Their love story continued with a dream wedding in Hawaii in February 2020 on the beautiful island of Oahu, surrounded by family, friends, and their oldest daughter, Leila. A boat ride to a private island brought them to the shores of the Pacific Ocean, where they shared their vows. After their wedding, Jon and his family moved to a ranch in the shadows of the Sierra Nevada, where he could usually be found donning a Stetson. There, they welcomed their youngest daughter, Luna, in 2021. Through his personal experience in fields both public and private, ranging from the armed forces, subsidized housing, real estate, and social work to financial services, business intelligence, and the mortgage industry, Jon utilized his knowledge and passion for writing in his work as an author. While at his ranch, he completed and published two books, including Death by Socialism. This book was one of his proudest accomplishments, as he spent years researching and pouring his heart and soul into it. Additionally, he dedicated his free time to sharing his knowledge by writing hundreds of articles for his website, paradocracy.com. Alongside his many accomplishments, Jon prided himself on being an avid adventurer, traveler, musician, athlete, mountaineer, Civil War reenactor, chess enthusiast, and collector of historical artifacts and Americana. He traveled all of Route 66 in his 1995 Impala SS, summited Mt. Shasta twice with his best friends, enjoyed many adventures throughout the country with his dear cousin, and created countless other memories that we all will cherish in our hearts. If Jon found a new hobby, his strong heart and passionate spirit was all-in, leading him to become talented and enthusiastic in a wide range of activities. But among all of Jon’s successes and talents, nothing would compare to what he achieved through becoming a husband to a wife who loves him unconditionally and a father to his daughters, each of whom are his entire world. Through them, our Lord blessed Jon with a mighty purpose as Lara’s husband and Leila and Luna’s Daddy. Jon is survived by his wife Lara (Fernandez) Rock, his children, Leila and Luna Rock, his parents, John and Maureen Rock, his twin sister, Jen (Mike) Buslepp, his nephews, Colton, Reid, Jude, Raiden, Q, Koa, his expected niece Noa, and many loving extended family members and friends. A funeral service to honor Jon’s life will be held at Warren’s Wasik Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 16th, from 3pm-8pm. A service will begin at 6pm, followed by family and friends sharing testimonies in remembrance of Jon’s life.
