In Loving Memory of John Mellon May 4, 1941 – April 2, 2026 John Mellon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 4, 1941, in Scotland, John carried with him throughout his life a deep love for his heritage, his faith, and above all, his family. After moving to the United States, he built a beautiful life rooted in hard work, devotion, and the values that would shape generations to come. John was the loving and devoted husband of Marie Jo “Mickie” Mellon, with whom he shared a life filled with love, faith, family, and treasured traditions. Together they created a home where everyone felt welcomed, supported, and deeply loved. He was the proud and loving father of Teresa (Mellon) Greene, Michael Mellon, Colleen Mellon, Kathleen (Mellon) Kochan, John A. Mellon, and Joseph A. Mellon, who preceded him in death. His children were truly his pride and joy, and nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by his family. John’s love extended far beyond fatherhood. He was a cherished dad, Pops, grandfather, and great-grandfather, roles he embraced with boundless love, humor, wisdom, and generosity. His family was the center of his world, and he leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and steadfast faith that will continue to live on in each of them. A man of deep faith and strong values, John instilled in his family the importance of faith, love, loyalty, and tradition. He led not only by word, but by example—showing what it meant to live with integrity, kindness, and devotion. John also leaves a lasting mark on his community as the co-founder of AYSO Region 195, where his dedication helped create opportunities, memories, and lifelong lessons for countless young people and families. His commitment to service and community reflected the same heart he gave so freely to those he loved. John will be remembered for his warmth, his strength, his unwavering devotion to his family, and the love he gave so freely to all who knew him. Though his absence leaves a profound emptiness, his spirit, his values, and the love he shared will remain forever in the hearts of those blessed to know him. He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten. Visitation for John will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259-23 Mile Road in New Baltimore. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
