John "Jack" Bernard Mooney

John "Jack" Mooney was born on May 2, 1937 in Detroit to John Henry and Cecelia Mooney. Jack passed away on October 21, 2021 at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan at the age of 84. John proudly served his country in the Air National guard for 11 years serving as a fire protection supervisor from 1955 until 1966 serving at the time of the Berlin Wall and the Cuban Missile Crisis. When Jack left the Air Guard he was honorably discharged attaining the rank of Tech Sergeant (E-6). Jack was a plumber by trade starting to work with his father at the age of 14. Jack's knowledge of this trade went far beyond being a plumber though. He was often tasked with handling large projects where he served as a mechanical contractor. In this role Jack helped in the construction of many schools, hospitals and large industrial buildings. People in the trade often looked to him for his knowledge on how to get these projects put together. In his spare time Jack liked to golf, but his family described him as a 'business golfer' often using his time on the course to talk through projects with his clients and vendors. When he wasn't working or working on the golf course you could often find Jack fishing. He especially liked his time fishing at the family cottage in Hesperia, Michigan. Jack is the beloved husband for 58 years of Shirley. Loving father of John Mooney II, Karen (Vince) Milana, Brian (Vicki Sandusky) Mooney, Todd Mooney, and Andrea Mooney. Proud grandpa of Ava Milana, Canyon Mooney, Alex Milana, Dominic Milana, Sierra Mooney, and Sophia Milana. Dearest brother of Lynn (Ron) Hendrickson, Lisa Mooney, and the late Dennis Mooney, Michael Mooney and Brooke Mooney. Dear uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
