Joan Mary Gdowski

Joan Mary Gdowski, a beloved member of the Davisburg, Michigan community, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24th, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on Wednesday, August 19th, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, Joan lived a life marked by love, devotion, and service to her family, friends, and community. Joan was a dedicated bookkeeper throughout her career, and her keen attention to detail and steadfast dedication made her a trusted colleague and friend. Beyond her professional life, Joan was a devout member of the Alter Society at St. Isidore Catholic Church, actively participating in various church activities and lending her helping hands wherever they were needed. Joan's life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Macomb, Michigan, on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026. Prior to the service, family and friends are invited to gather for the Rosary and visitation at Wasik Funeral Home in Shelby Township, Michigan. The Rosary will be held on Friday, May 1st, 2026, alongside visitation hours from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. These arrangements have been lovingly organized by Wasik Funeral Home-Shelby Township. She is survived by her loving family, including her son-in-law James and daughter-in-law Theresa, alongside her cherished grandchildren Louis Mylenek, Emily (Peter) Warren, Adrienne (Jeff Bozell) Young, and Annabelle Young. Joan was also a proud great-grandmother to Jacob, Thaddeus, Ruthie, and Sloane. She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, and her dear friend, Karista Job, all of whom will miss her warmth, laughter, and guidance. Joan was preceded in death by her loving parents, Jan N. Szwapa and Mary Ann Szwapa, and her beloved spouse, Richard Gdowski, who now welcome her into eternal rest. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joan's memory to the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, continuing her legacy of compassion and generosity to causes close to her heart. Joan Mary Gdowski will always be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and the unconditional love she gave to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
