Frances Tomlinson

It is with great difficulty, but with an enormous amount of love & respect that we write about the passing of our mother, Frances Tomlinson, at the age of 82 years young, passed peacefully at home with her cherished son Paul & daughter Rachelle. Frances grew up the middle child of Irvin & Bernice Jenkin; along with her elder sister Barbara & younger sister Judy. Frances met the love her life Harry, at the British American club in Detroit. Eventually they ran off & eloped. Their journey began in Flint Michigan when they began a decade of moving around the country with stops in Dallas, Cleveland & Chicago to name a few. They ended up reestablishing roots in the Detroit in the mid seventies. Our mother liked being back in the Detroit area, close to family. Harry had an Entrepreneurial spirit. Together, they built a very successful business that remains in the family with Paul & David. The two were joined in marriage for 58 years before Harry took his onward journey. Harry & Fran raised Craig, Paul & David. Our Mother loved her boys. Thru the years, Fran became a huge sports fan, (not by choice, being the only Woman in the house. What choice did she really have?). She was the Secretary of our local youth soccer league when we were growing up. Together our parents were partially responsible for the growth & the success of youth soccer in Michigan. People still talk about them & the respect they had for our mother. Fran was most proud of her kids. We could hear her cheering us on from the sidelines, she rarely missed a game; and when she did it was because she was attending another one of our games. Fran had to support up to 3 games in a day, weekend & evening practices, whilst still managing to run her household & business. While her sister Judy resides in the Detroit area, her husband Harry & sister Barbara left this earth. Our hearts are full with hope, love and peace knowing our Mother now is at home with them. She is happy. Our Mother loved her family. She was most happy when we all met at Mr. Paul’s for dinner or when both the Jenkin’s & Tomlinson’s would get together at their house on Christmas Eve. It was the highlight of the year for Fran. Something those around her knew all to well. She appreciated & loved her family & friends. Our Mom was very sick for many years. She had the heart of a lion & was a determined woman. She never complained about the pain or felt sorry for herself. Diabetes & Cancer never faced a more gallant opponent. Fran left this world on her terms, with dignity & at home peacefully. Fran bids farewell to her sister Judy, her boys, Craig, Paul & David, grand daughter Brittany, grandson Alexander & all of her extended family & friends. At our mothers request, visitation and service will be held on the same day, Tuesday, October 1, 2019, from 2-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. service at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (West of Hoover) Warren. Anyone who wishes to remember Fran can make a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Foundation in her memory.
