Edward Joseph Migocki

Edward Joseph Migocki, of Macomb, Michigan, passed away on March 12, 2010, at the age of 96. Edward was born September 18, 1913, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Joseph and Catherine (Ukrainski) Migocki. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Elizabeth (Bartosiewicz) Migocki and sons, E. David (Lynn) Migocki of Camarillo, California and Joseph Migocki, of Cathedral City, California; and daughters, Judith (Larry) Best of Pentwater, Michigan; Mary Lou (Richard) Schnitzer of Milford, Michigan; Maggie (Russell) Lacoste of Charleston, South Carolina; and Betty (Keith) Kabel of Shelby Township, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sophie Downer, and brothers, Stanley Migocki and Bernard Migocki; and is survived by his sisters, Helen Walsh, and Jean Lach, of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Also surviving are Edward’s treasured grandchildren, Lynda Pilot, Jennifer Cummings, Diane (Fred) White, David Pilot, Scott (Christine) Schnitzer, Kristina Schnitzer, Kate (Dustin) Ham, Alexandra Lacoste, Brian Kabel and Victoria Kabel; as well as his great-grandchildren, Justin Street, Alexander Street, Max Reichert, Erik (Amy) Cummings, Brett Cummings, Nicole Cummings, Meredith White, Callie White, Samantha White, Regina Pilot, Tobyn Pilot, Allison Pilot, and Scott Schnitzer, Jr; and great-great granddaughters Ananda Street and Ella Street; as well as many nieces and nephews. Edward married his sweet love, Elizabeth Bartosiewicz, on July 24, 1937 in Sand Lake, Michigan, and together they celebrated 72 years of marriage. He was employed by General Motors Corporation Fisher Body Division working in Grand Rapids Plant No. 1, the Fisher Body Plant in Mansfield, Ohio, in June 1965, he transferred to Fisher Body Plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and then to the G.M. Technical Center in Warren, Michigan; retiring in September 1978 after 42 years of service. Ed and Betty moved to Sebring, Florida after retirement, where they enjoyed 18 years of sunshine, golf, wonderful friends, and many new experiences; moving back to Michigan in 1989 at the urging of a constantly growing family who missed their presence. A life-long golfer—Ed was known for his fantastic accuracy on the course; only hanging up his clubs at the ripe old age of 92. He enjoyed having time to play golf with his sons, sons-in-law, and grandsons—most of whom he beat! Through the years, he also enjoyed working in his gardens, producing not only beautiful roses and gladiolas; but also fruits and vegetables. He raised his family to appreciate traditional values—personal responsibility, respect for others, and love for the Church; and he served as a constant example of what a husband and father should be. He was a “one of a kind” and will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2010, at St. John Vianney Church 54045 Schoenherr Rd. (Shelby Twp.) Visitation will take place on Thursday 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary 7:00 pm at Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (Shelby Twp.) Interment will be Saturday, March 20, 2010 11:00 am at Resurrection Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Memorial donations may be made to: Beaumont Hospice.
