Cynthia Jane Skwirsk

Cynthia Jane Skwirsk, 69, of Westland, accepted the Lord’s hand, as she passed away unexpectedly April 21st, 2026, accompanied by her daughter Janna and sister Anne at Henry Ford Hospital Clinton Township. She lived a life filled with love and dedication to her family and friends. Cynthia was born on October 20th, 1956, at Grace Hospital in Detroit to Donald Ziegler and Sally May Ziegler (Goodwin). Cynthia grew up in Westland and attended the Wayne Westland School District, where she began to discover some of her talents. In her early twenties, Cynthia discovered a deep passion for caring for children by sitting for family and friends. She went on to become a licensed home provider through the state of Michigan where she built a thriving and beloved business, tending with countless children and forming lasting bonds with their families. Cynthia met her husband Michael Skwirsk, in an art class while attending John Glenn high school, where they instantly bonded through a shared passion for creativity. That was the start of unspeakable love turned into marriage. In those 17 years, they built a life together in Belleville Michigan while raising their family of 3, that they knew was truly a blessing from God. Through those years they shared laughs, love, holidays, family vacations, and a new relationship with their God that provided blessings that would enrich the rest of their life. Cynthia loved hosting gatherings and parties for her friends and family, bringing together warmth, humor, and good food. She especially cherished sharing planned vacations with family and friends, as her happiness came from enjoying the day with others. Her love of sharing these moments has inspired those with whom she shared her life with to live on these same traditions with their families and friends. Cynthia also expressed herself beautifully through art that was admired among those who knew her. She was especially proud when she was chosen to design her high school yearbook cover, and later in life went on to win several contest awards from the artwork submitted locally and created several pieces that sit in the rooms of those dear. Cynthia had a lifelong relationship with God, beginning in childhood and continuing into her early adulthood at First Baptist Church in Wayne Michigan where she sang and built a network to support her faith. After moving to Westland, she continued her faith journey by joining bible study groups and continued reading her Daily Bread books. Those who knew Cynthia will remember her love of sharing moments with others, her generous spirit, or humor when she was ready to make others laugh. Though there is one trait that was recognized by anyone who knew her or heard her story, and that was her quiet strength. This quiet strength did not hide; this strength kept her smiling; IT powered her to never give up. This strength we will remember as the strength that did miracles against all odds, and we will be grateful for that strength as we remember. Cynthia is survived by her one and only daughter Janna (Joshua Forster) of Sterling Heights; grandchildren, Jordan and Mikayla; brother Edmund of Westland and sister Anne (Paula Holly) of Warren; her niece Sarah (Robert Frank); their beloved children Robert and Virginia along with her dear friends and all of the individuals she once tended to as children that became so dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents; Donald Ziegler and Sally May Ziegler (Goodwin) ex-husband Michael K. Skwirsk, and her dearest niece Katy. A Celebration of Life/Memorial will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, from 2-8 p.m. with a 2:30 p.m. service at the Wasik Funeral Home, 11470 Thirteen Mile Road Warren, MI 48093 Minister/Dear Friend John Ruane will lead the sermon and prayer. “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” – Dr. Seuss
