Daniel W. Frey

Daniel Frey, 33, beloved son of Lawrence and Mary Jane “Missy” (White) and brother of Timothy and Matthew “Mat Mat” (Jenna Brassem), passed away on April 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 26, 1990. He lived life with gusto and added extra cheer to holidays. In fact, he loved the Christmas spirit from the moment he first spotted twinkling lights, blowing them kisses because he “yoved” the pretty lights. For Daniel, Christmas was about finding the perfect gift for family and friends, looking months in advance. His St. Thecla Secret Santa gifts were the most anticipated by the family. He gave great thought before each purchase and agonized waiting to distribute the gifts on December 25th! He also loved Halloween and worked for many years at haunted houses. Just like his favorite movie character Jack Skellington in the Nightmare Before Christmas, he perfected his character and theatrics for twelve months, and I just can’t wait until next Halloween ‘cause I’ve got some new ideas that will really make them scream. And by God, I’m really gonna give it all my might! Nightmare Before Christmas. Daniel leaves behind an extended close-knit family; Jerry (Alison) Frey, Gilbert (Cindy) Frey, Dan (Donna) White, Tricia (Verne) Kazor, Bob (Julie) White, Katie White and cousins near and far. Numerous friends and special pets. Preceded in death by his grandparents; Kenneth and Elizabeth Frey and William and Patricia White, Uncle; William White Jr and Aunts Denise and Susan White. Daniel was taught to love and care for animals by his father and often went to the zoo even by himself. Growing up he would watch the movie "Babe over and over" – the entire family knew every line in the movie. He went out of his way to help others whenever he was able, and his kindness will not be forgotten. For those who will miss him, simply watch Nightmare Before Christmas and remember the words of Jack and think of Daniel… "My dearest friend, if you don’t mind, I’d like to join you by your side, where we can gaze into the stars." The stories of Daniel live on in our hearts and minds, many to be shared over a pint or two. As we raise a final cheer to his life and legacy, remember once again his favorite character; I really tasted something swell, that's right. And, for a moment, why, I even touched the sky and at least I left some stories they can tell. Nightmare Before Christmas. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 2-8 pm at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. located at 11470 Thirteen Mile Rd. w. of Hoover. Daniel will then lie in state on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 10:30 am until 11 am for the Funeral Mass at St. Thecla Catholic Church at 20740 S. Nunnley Rd. in Clinton Twp. Arrangements are being handled by Wasik Funeral Home in Warren. Daniel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
